Paranoia no more

2006.03.28

As of this posting, I have decided to not moderate comments manually anymore. I have thought about it and in the span of time that I have been blogging, I have never needed to delete a spam comment. Maybe perhaps these freakin’ spammers realize that spamming comments in a blog makes the blog’s rating in some Technorati-like site(s) go higher — well, at least my handicapped thinking tells me that it does.

So you can now comment at will. No censorship and bias. Don’t be shy! Comment to your heart’s content.

Later.

I don’t quite understand the comment moderation of WP. Even though I have turned off comment moderation, some comments are still held for approval. Weird!

Now I know why comments are still held for moderation. In the condition Hold comments in queue if it contains n number of links, I set n to blank meaning 0 (zero). So if the comment body contains 0 (zero) number of links (which is always the case), it is automatically held for moderation. Hah, I ain’t as dumb as I thought to be.

On beauty parlors and threading

Last Sunday (March 26), I went to a local beauty parlor to accompany my brother to get his hair cut. I never really get my haircut in parlors, due to the fact that I like to wear my hair close to what they call a skinhead, but I frequent the place because my better half gets her hair done there. I don’t have any complaints about the place or the service but what I would like to know is why the hell it costs so much. In the said parlor, a regular haircut costs about PhP 110.00 112.00. Maybe it’s because they shampoo your hair first before cutting it out. Thinking about it though, that must be a very expensive shampoo. I, on the contrary, can get my hair cut for only PhP 50.00 — that’s PhP 30.00 for the haircut and PhP 20.00 as tip for the barber. Applying that logic to parlor rates that would sum up to: Php 30.00 for the haircut, PhP 20.00 for the tip and close to PhP 52.00 for the shampoo. Damn, you can buy a whole bottle of shampoo for about the same price (PhP 52.00) and it can last you for maybe a whole month. But then again, I may be exaggerating so please enlighten me and prove me wrong.

Having been rendered bored by the back-issue magazines in the parlor (why don’t they stock up on FHM or UNO instead of those showbiz mags?), my meandering attention was won by a woman who was moaning like she was being anal-probed by aliens. Much to my amusement, I discovered that she was getting her eye brows threaded. I kind of saw this “beauty” technique in some female-oriented local TV show but it was the first time I witnessed it done actually. It must have hurt like hell because the woman was grimacing in pain and teary-eyed. Such a price to pay to get a few stray brows. But as they say, “no pain, no gain”.

Brown

2006.03.24

I think that I will have to settle for this template once and for all. If you keep track of my blog frequently, then you would have noticed that the current template as of this posting is yet again a new one. What could I really say? I like tinkering with things and this blog is no exception. I chose the color brown this time because the previous layout I had was colored gray and it looked so dull. I was beginning to think that those reading my blog would think I am a bland person. Why the color brown then? I can’t really explain why but I have always wanted brown to be the color of my blog. Maybe because I am a proud, brown Filipino? Yeah, maybe that’s it! Or maybe some other reason. But who cares, as long as it makes reading my entries pleasant and easy, then I’d be a happy blogger.
