Flashback: High School Life
2006.03.13Most of yesterday, March 12, 2006, was spent at the high school for the family day of our youngest sibling (my sister … duh!). What was so nostalgic about it was that it brought back the memories of my own time in high school. And as far as I know, we did NOT have a single family day during that time. Family day celebration is self-explanatory but for the sake of lengthening this post, it is basically getting all the family members of the students crammed inside a small classroom to watch the family members’ member perform with the other students of the class he/she is a member of. See how simple it is logically?
So there I was anyway with pretentious enthusiasm watching my dear sister perform their much practiced acts. Some were quite funny while others were outright dull. Bottom line is it sucked; a total waste of time (well except for the Holy mass celebrated). Out of boredom, I recalled how a Jesuit run all-boys HS was way back in my time. It was much better than the co-ed one of which is now the case.
One thing comes to mind and that is the existence of fags has not been eliminated. As a matter of fact it has blossomed. I remember then that one of the most used excuse for turning the HS co-ed was to minimize, or even eliminate, the existence of homosexuality. Instead, I see the latter. In my sister’s class alone, you can count the number of real men with your two hands. In my opinion, the change from all-boys to co-ed has had more cons than pros.
