Paranoia no more
2006.03.28As of this posting, I have decided to not moderate comments manually anymore. I have thought about it and in the span of time that I have been blogging, I have never needed to delete a spam comment. Maybe perhaps these freakin’ spammers realize that spamming comments in a blog makes the blog’s rating in some Technorati-like site(s) go higher — well, at least my handicapped thinking tells me that it does.
So you can now comment at will. No censorship and bias. Don’t be shy! Comment to your heart’s content.
Later.

I don’t quite understand the comment moderation of WP. Even though I have turned off comment moderation, some comments are still held for approval. Weird!

Now I know why comments are still held for moderation. In the condition Hold comments in queue if it contains n number of links, I set n to blank meaning 0 (zero). So if the comment body contains 0 (zero) number of links (which is always the case), it is automatically held for moderation. Hah, I ain’t as dumb as I thought to be.

Testing the “no comment moderation” policy of this blog.

You can always moderate your comments on WP. Just zap away those spam in the moderation box.

riclags,
in the discussion options under before a comment appears, is “comment author must have previously approved comment” checked? turn it off, then maybe wordpress wont be sending you emails anymore.

shane,
i have already unchecked “An administrator must approve the comment (regardless of any matches below)” and “Comment author must have a previously approved comment” under the “Before a comment appears:” options and still most comments end up needing moderation.
