M.Y.M.P. and a Bamboo fanatic

M.Y.M.P. had their concert here last June 24, 2006. I, along with some of my friends, went to watch the show. Upon entering the concert venue I was a little confused whether I was in the right place because, as expected, majority of the audience were high school students. Anyway, I’m not here to talk about that. The last full-length concert I went to was…I can’t remember! Has it been that long already or am I just experiencing one of the many symptoms of aging? I hope that it’s the former.
The concert was okay. As expected from a band who became über famous with a handful of original songs and a truckload of remakes/revivals, they sang mostly the latter. Which was, in a way, an advantage because I found myself singing along to most of what they played. The night was filled with all those melodramatic songs that makes you, well, get melodramatic.
Juris, the lead (female) vocalist of the band, still hasn’t improved much on her showmanship. Unlike other performing artists who try to get the crowd into the music, she just stands there and sings. There’s no doubt that she can sing but sometimes it gets pretty boring seeing her in the same position song after song after song. Well, that’s her style and I can’t do anything about it anyway.
Nevertheless, I enjoyed the night.
One of my companions in the said concert above was a Japanese girl. She’s been in the Philippines for a little over a year, as far as I know. Since we were going to an OPM concert, I asked her what local artists she liked listening to. Without hesitation, she admitted that she was a Bamboo fan. She said that she wanted to go back to Manila because it is only there that she can see the band perform as often as she wanted. It was amusing to know that a Japanese could be so caught up with a local band. But then again, Bamboo is a great band so I wouldn’t be surprised if she likes the band.
Well, that’s about all I can tell you what I have done on the weekend.
Mondays are just so effing boring…
What’s a Japanese gal doing in your part of the boondocks? She a student?
This is kinda embarassing, but I’m not familiar with Bamboo.

shane: It cost me 250 bucks for the entrance. That was the cheapest. And yes, Mungkey invited me to the Bee Party Series. Maybe next time I will join you. He said he enjoyed the gay grind part of the night. What an fucking fag. Hehehe.

i can’t imagine u going to an MYMP concert ric… i thought rocker ka? :D anyway, i bet watching it with friends made it a fun night.

jane: Well, aging is inevitable. We must live with it.
carey: Hehehe. I am a ‘rocker’ at heart but sometimes it really is interesting to be open to other music genres.

i love MYMP’s songs. i bought 2 of their double CD album and brought one here sa US. i always listen to their songs.
