Open source photo manipulation
2006.07.27Been doing some stuff at home lately. Got myself a new toy to tinker with — GIMP. Most people say that it is the ultimate alternative to Adobe Photoshop. I like it because it’s open source and it’s technically free. It’s powerful enough to be used alongside Photoshop but still has a lot of room for improvement. But for now, it works for me.

know what, i surfed through your photoshop tutorials link last week and melissa clifton’s site is really a blast, i’ve learned some tricks and loved that pop art tutorial. i’ve been using photoshop for a long time and i haven’t maximized this software’s capabilities. i was also thinking of posting some pop art in my blog courtesy of this tutorial. thanks for sharing ric. i’ll see what GIMP has to offer.

carey: Melissa Cliffton’s site rocks! It’s really a great site for Photoshop tutorials.
shane: Just fire up Photoshop (or GIMP) and start fooling around. I suggest you open an image in Photoshop (or GIMP) and try out the filters. That’s how I started to get into it.
dora: Well, that crack thingee is true. Hehehe. GIMP could be a great alternative. And think that it is open source so development is always there. So expect a lot of improvement to it.
